This weeks Fixtures - 5 July 2008

1st XI - Bardsey - Away - 1:30pm

2nd XI - Bardsey - Home - 1:30pm

The weather again intervened to halt the Twenty 20 Keighley Cup quarter final against Sutton when we were closing in on victory.  A replay has been scheduled for Tuesday 8th July at home.  Stumps pitched 6.15pm.

Silsden First XI closed the gap on league leaders Knaresborough by collecting 5 points in their away fixture. Silsden are now just 3 points behind at the half way stage.  Another superb ton from Matt Pinniger gives him 420 runs in his last 3 innings.  See match report for full details.

A comfortable win for the second XI gives takes all 6 points from visitors Menston.

A miserable day on Saturday meant both games were washed out without a ball being bowled which was esspeccially dissapointing for the 1st XI who faced second bottom Harden.  This week sees us travel to Knaresborough for what should be a cracking table top clash - Weather permitting!

Sutton are our next opponents in the Keighley Twenty 20 cup.  The game will take place at Silsden on the 1st of July - Sumps pitched 6.15pm

The First XI have now moved into second position in the table thanks to an empahtic win against New Rover. Having been asked to bat first, Matt Pinniger led the way with his second successive century. Zeeshan continued his fine form taking 5 wickets and 'PK' took 4 wickets giving Silsden all 6 points.

The second team got back to winnings ways with a comfortable win against New Rover. J Ridley and A Darnbrook each bowled well collecting 3 wickets apiece.

END OF AN ERA B-B-Q was held on Sunday and proved a huge success as we all said a fond farewell to the clubhouse before the bulldozers moved in.  Thanks to all who helped on the day.  A few weeks of inconvenience are a little price to pay for a state of the art facility that will be available to us for the start of the 2009 season.

THE 2008 KEIGHLEY CUP is being run as a Twenty 20 competition with two preliminary rounds being followed by a finals day to be held at Keighleys Lawkholme Lane ground.  Come along on Tuesday 10th June when we host Ingrow CC and watch what will undoubtedly be an action packed evening.  Stumps pitched 6pm.

MATT PINNIGER hit a superb 114 away at Olicanian to help the 1st XI to a second successive win.  Zeeshan is also in the wickets.  An impressive debut from Dave Wynn with a controlled opening spell saw him take two important wickets. - See match report for full details.

Another dissapointing performance with the bat on Saturday saw the 2nd XI slump to another defeat.  A much improved performance on Sunday in the cup however saw us push Burley all the way.  See match reports for full details.

ZEESHAN QUASIM helps the 1st XI back to winning ways with a superb 8 - 48 against Tong Park.

A COMFORTABLE seven wicket victory for the 2nd XI away at Addingham.

A DISASTROUS weekend as both teams can only manage 1 point between them in the fixtures with Upper Wharfedale.

A DISSAPOINTING end to the eagerly awaited local derby as the rain intervenes.  The 2nd XI dont even get started.

ON behalf of all at the club can we extend a warm welcome to Matthew Pinniger who arrived last week from Melbourne, Australia.  Good luck to Matt and may we wish him a successful summer at Silsden CC.  We are also happy to see the return of Chris Meehan coming home after a spell over the river!

APOLOGIES for no updates last week. Web-site was down for technical reasons.

ZEESHAN QUASIM again stole the show taking a superb all bowled hat trick to help the 1st XI to another 6 points.

MATT SHUTTLEWORTH secures his first win as captain as the 2nd XI take all 6 points at Woodhouse.

CONGRATULATIONS to Zeeshan Quasim for his outstanding performance against Calverley taking  9 - 28 from 15 overs.  A career best for Zeeshan and the best analysis by a Silsden 1st XI bowler since David Akroyd took 9 -14 Vs Alwwodley in 1971 and Terry Town who took 9-26 Vs Menston in 1969.

Anyone who will be helping out with our junior section needs to complete one of the neccessary CRB forms.  These are available from Tim Sugden.

We are delighted to anounce that we have been able to secure the services of both Zeeshan Qasim and Yasar Ali for the 2008 season.  Zeeshan is now an overseas born resident which has enabled us to sign Australian batsman MATTHEW PINNIGER.  Matthew played for Melbourne in the Victoria Premier League for many years before returning to his home town club, Bendigo United CC, where he is now player coach. Matt is no stranger to the Aire Wharfe league playing for a couple of seasons with Steeton and scoring over 1000 runs in the 1999 season.  We look forward to welcoming Matt to the club.
